Atmosphere
What is it?
Atmosphere is a layer above earth that is made out of several types of gases which includes 78% of nitrogen, 21% of oxygen and 1% of other gases outside of nitrogen and oxygen. The atmosphere is separated into 5 different layers, each with a slightly different composition, density and temperature which includes (in particular order starting from the one that is closest to the lithosphere or more known as the ground) the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. If you were to compare things, atmosphere is pretty much like an invisible giant blanket that is made of different layers that gives heat and at the same time 'coolness'.
Earth's atmosphere has many benefits and functions towards living things including us!
- The atmosphere helps to absorb ultraviolet radiation which is a light that is able to cause harmful effects to human and to other living things including plants if there is too much of it
- One of the thing that is important to living things is temperature. If the temperature of earth is too cold or too hot, human, plants and animals won't be able to survive and the layers has a function to keep the temperature not too hot or not too cold.
- Without the atmosphere, things from outer space such as meteoroids will enter earth and bring damages due to the space junks and it would pretty much ruin things frequently if it wasn't because of the atmosphere
- It provide gases that are vital or veryveryvery important for living things. Without the gases that the atmosphere provides, humans would not be able to breathe and plants can't be able to do an important process called photosynthesis.
