Troposphere
The troposphere is the atmosphere layer that is the closest to earth that starts from 30.000 until 50.000 feet high which extends from 6 to 20 km high across earth's surface . This layer of atmosphere is heated by the surface of the earth and is the layer in which different process occurs such as snow or rain. Similar to other part of earth's atmosphere, the gas in the troposphere decrease based on the height(which will be explained in more detail in the air pressure section) but the average pressure of this layer is 1000 to 200 millibars. The transition boundary or the boundary that connects this layer to the next layer is called the Tropopause.
Stratosphere
The stratosphere is the second atmosphere layer that is located between the troposphere and the mesosphere and extends for the next 50 km after the troposphere. This layer get its heat from the ozone layer that absorbs radiation from the sun and the temperature increase with its height. This layer is important because this layer absorbs excessive radiation that might be able to harm living things. Just like all the atmosphere layer, this layer contains a boundary that connects it to another layer which is called the stratopause.
Did you know that in this layer, the warmer air is located above the cooler air and the weather balloon travels as high as this layer?

Mesosphere
Mesosphere is the third atmosphere layer that is located in between the stratosphere and thermosphere which extends 85 km above the stratosphere. This layer is the layer in which meteors and meteorites get 'burnt' down into smaller pieces due to the temperature of this layer before it hits earth. The transition boundary or the boundary that connects this layer to the next layer is called the mesopause.
Did you know that the coldest place in earth is at the top of the mesosphere which is around -90 Celsius or -130 Fahrenheit!

Thermosphere
The thermosphere is the fourth layer that is located in between the mesosphere and the exosphere which extends up to 600 km above the earth.. This layer has very thin or little amount of air and the temperature is able to reach 2,000 Celsius. Similar to the mesosphere, this earth layer is able to absorb ultraviolet radiation by the molecules in this layer.
EXOSPHERE
The exosphere is the fifth and the outermost layer that is located above the thermosphere and is located around 10,000 km above earths surface and is around 5000 kilometers in height. The temperature of the exosphere can reach over to 1700 degrees Celsius when it is exposed to the sun but when it is not, it can reach to 0 degrees Celsius. Atoms and molecules that are in this layer is able to escape to outer space.
